Availability of WhatsApp has given us all a tool to self-express. Now everybody has a chance to announce whatever he/she likes or dislikes. The arrival of the tool in our life has given rise to an advent of journalists within us.
We find people sending Good Morning and Good Night messages, hopefully with all the right intentions.
Then there are people who have strong opinions about everything, political or otherwise. They forward posts which support their own thinking.
Some people, driven by an urge for social work, satisfy their mission by sending/forwarding messages which (they think) should benefit others. So, you get occasional enthusiastic forwards like “इस साहब की पेन का ढक्कन खो गया है, कृपया उसे ढूंढने में मदद करीए, इस मेसेज को सारे ग्रुप्स में फोरवर्ड करीए।”
Some people believe that forwarding message will change governments or its policies. So, occasionally we get messages with the request “इस मेसेज को इतना फैलाओ की सरकार हील जाय”, as if the PM or the other ministers are just waiting to be shaken up by WhatsApp.
There are some serious curators, who dig for great content and forward only the best things. You can’t miss whatever they send, and it is worthwhile also to spend time consuming what they send.
Then there are some, who bulk forward whatever comes to them, without really checking, watching, reading, curating or thinking. They may be thinking of feeding those deprived souls with some content. You can blindly delete whatever they send. I do that.
But, if you observe, everybody in your WhatsApp contacts list or in the assorted groups of which you are a member, has a pattern. They have a WhatsApp personality. Some people send/forward certain types of messages. Others don’t send or forward anything, they just ‘like’ it or just keep mum. Then there are others, who are silent observers. They never send, forward or like anything. In my opinion, they are the true social workers of the WhasApp universe.
But, whatever we do with this tool, it speaks of our own personal brand. It expresses who we really are.
Think over. What is your WhatsApp personality? How is WhatsApp shaping your personal brand?
